For more than decade, we have worked with our training partners Everson Soccer Academy (ESA) whose founder is a professional Brazilian soccer player, Everson Maciel, who has chosen CT as his new home base. We have invited his camps and coaches and trainers to our town to help run our programs and clinics. Our relationship has grown over the years and toward the end of 2012 we were offered an opportunity to bring their coaches in for kids younger than our youngest Lil' Kicks (who must be born in 2014 for the 2018-19 season).
Due to the growth in demand in such programs, and branching out and reorganization of the associated professional trainers and coaches, we currently work with some of the same coaches who are now with SFC (Shoreline Football Club), who provide the same great service.
It had always bothered us to have to say no to folks who were just too young for our programs. But we had to have a cutoff somewhere, and as a club we had decided to go by the CJSA (CT Junior Soccer Association) age brackets for registering players. No exceptions.
In the Spring of 2013, year we decided to give it a try and see what type of program this would yield. ESA and SFC offer Tiger Kixx as clinics around the state, independent of most host towns' soccer programs. We figured we could incorporate it as one of our club's regular programs that would simply be a precursor to our existing Lil' Kicks group. Therefore we could now stop turning away the youngest soccer enthusiast. We would keep the name, and let ESA & SFC's professionals do the coaching for this delightful group, with the consideration that at such young ages as 2.5 to 4, it would be impossible to maintain team integrity unlike the Lil Kicks and up, and that it would be best to run this like the clinics ESA & SFC are so wonderful at conducting.
If you have seen our older in-house programs you will immediately notice the difference, that there are no volunteer parent coaches in this program. There are no teams that play each other in a game setting. Instead there are some really fun and engaging folks who do this professionally.
Take a look at ESA's website and especially the Tiger Kixx videos:
We are always looking for volunteers from among you parents to help us coordinate and manage our programs. Let us know if you are interested in being a volunteer.
We greatly appreciate your interest. Enjoy!
