WHAT IS FUTSAL?

Futsal is indoor soccer (the "official" indoor soccer game of FIFA). It is five-a-side soccer, played usually in a gym, with small goals, and a small-sized ball (about a size 3) that is rather heavy and does not bounce. It is extremely fast-paced, is focused on touch on the ball, and is the game that young players in Brazil, Italy, Spain, Argentina, etc. etc., grow up playing. Ronaldhino, Pele, Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Figo -- they all played futsal growing up, and credit it with their skill on the ball. (see video links below)

This winter, Branford Soccer has hired Everson Soccer (
www.eversonsoccer.com) to conduct 8 weeks of futsal clinics for players from Micros through U-14. Everson Maciel, who runs Everson Soccer, grew up playing futsal, and still plays-- his men's team this year came in third in the US Futsal National Championships. He and his coaches will be conducting futsal clinics beginning the week of January 12.

www.eversonsoccer.com actually has a good bit on futsal, so just troll around there.

A NOTE ABOUT CONNECTICUT SPORTSPLEX:

The Branford Soccer Club IS NOT affiliated with or associated with the winter indoor programs at The Connecticut Sportsplex in North Branford. This is because the Sportsplex does not have enough fields or playing times to accommodate all Branford players, and therefore the Club cannot assure equal access to all. Parents, coaches and players who wish to organize their own teams to play in the leagues at The Sportsplex are encouraged to do so. This is how the current teams have been formed. For more information, go to ctsportsplex.com. Or click the “Feedback” button on the left navbar of this site and we’ll help where we can.
