JUNIORS BOYS AND GIRLS

In both Fall and Spring, the Branford Soccer Club offers U-9/U-10 Juniors developmental/recreational programs for both boys and girls. These programs are open to all Branford residents (and youngsters attending school in Branford) who were born between 9 and 10 years of age. For exact birthdates for any given season, please see the registration page. Junior players are also eligible to play on travel teams which play against other U-10 teams in the region. Please see the link "About U-10 Travel" on the left menu bar.

As with Micros and Li'l Kicks, Juniors is an in-house program meant to provide a fun environment in which players can be taught the skills necessary for them to continue to enjoy the sport of soccer in coming years. Competition is not emphasized. There are no league standings kept nor champions declared. Each player will be provided with a team shirt and participants are divided into teams of 8-10 players each.

Each week during the Fall, teams play one game on Saturdays, and conduct two practices on weeknights. One of the weekly practices is usually led by professional coaches whom the BSC brings in to give players specialized, high-quality training.

During the Spring, Juniors attend one practice and, on a separate night, play in one game.

The Fall season begins in late August/early September and concludes in November. Registration for the fall program is conducted in June each year. All players registering at that time will be guaranteed inclusion in the program. Late registrants will be accepted only as field space, volunteer coaches and team roster space allow.

The Spring season begins in early April and concludes in June. Registration for the spring program is conducted in February each year. All players registering at that time will be guaranteed inclusion in the program. Late registrants will be accepted only as field space, volunteer coaches and team roster space allow.

To both games and practices, Junior players should bring:

  • Shin-guards (absolutely required)
  • A #4 ball with his/her name indelibly marked on the ball
  • A full water bottle
